On Birthday Eve we had drinks and watched the sun set over my 69 years and the Inlet at Narooma. Anne and Rosie Yuille came from Canberra. On Tuesday, Meg, Steve and Eyebrows, our Canberra/Melbourne/Narooma friends hosted a very select dinner just across the highway for Julian, Robert and Clancy. Here we have the cocktails set up The table set up The one-eyed barman takes orders From the cocktails to the seafood bar and fire drum (famous insides of a washing machine). The seafood bar A pause for the speech and unwrappng of the amazing produce gift box Champagne after cocktails. At the fire pit with Helen Brush, Rosie Yuille and Meg Selman (wearing her Narooma Men's Shed apron. Course one - oysters, shashimi blue fin, prawns.. Then we zoomed with Wexford, Winchester, Bristol, Canberra, Hawthorn, Coburg, Yogyakarta, Barmedman, Petersham....total chaos but wonderful! I ended up on the Hall Stand where the echo became so bad I had to tell everyone to leave. The Fitzroy Mob zoomed in from Hawthorn (where most of them live now!) and we shared a delicious dinner with them. Apparently I didn't say anything all evening nor did Robert. Back in Narooma here we are, tired but happy and up to the tea course after : Baked kingfish - Narooma's own fish - amazing creamed, sliced potatoes, Canty St sour dough and... let's hear it for the snow peas... and marmalade bread and butter pudding!!! (only 5 of these people are 70 or over). Thank you for wonderful presents. I think the freshwater mussel shell from Bindara on the Darling wins, but the diamond ear rings, from Georgie's, and the chocolate brownies, come a close second... and books! The recovery party on the beach this morning. (There's Eyebrows too). The dark glasses are for the glare. Clifton Hill couldn't attend the zoom but they kindly provided the annual accordion-derived insult.
